Host Windrose Servers in Staging (Staging)
Staging: awaiting manual game-client validation. Player connections are not yet verified. Evaluate this server before inviting players.
Host Windrose on your own Windows 10/11 or Linux computer. Swarm Hosts gives you a browser control panel to start, stop, monitor, and back up your server.

Hardware and runtime
What Windrose needs
Minimum requirements are a starting point. World size, player count, content, and game settings can require more resources.
- CPU
- 4+ cores
- Memory
- 12 GiB minimum
- Player traffic
- TCP and UDP
- Backup coverage
- 1 saved data location
Start with 4 CPU cores and 12 GiB memory on a Linux host with fast storage and enough free disk for server downloads and backups. These are evaluation allocations, not a promise of performance at maximum player count. This wrapper uses a pinned publisher-provided native server image. Initial world generation can take several minutes. The dated evaluation covers that image and its bundled server build; later images require another evaluation.
Technical overview
Swarm Hosts offers this vanilla dedicated server for evaluation. Read Staging games before inviting players.
Launch workflow
From host to running server
This entry evaluates the publisher-provided native Linux server image with its initial world and a maximum of four players. Generated invitation and world identifiers stay in persistent storage. An earlier attempt failed during world reload; the bounded repeat passed. Server discovery, player joining, and progression remain unverified.
A join password is optional where offered. Use the launch form's accepted characters and limits. Raw launch arguments and game-specific administration are unavailable.
The internal routes are 7777/TCP, 7777/UDP. Share the assigned public player endpoint shown on the server page; public relay ports can differ from container ports. A local query response does not establish public reachability or listing. See Relays and Port Forwarding.
- Choose Windrose from Staging and select a host with sufficient capacity.
- Use a new disposable test deployment and review the offered settings.
- Launch, inspect startup logs, and monitor resources before attempting a client connection.
Networking
How players connect
Use a client compatible with the current server build and follow the publisher's hosting guidance. Check the actual connection route with a game client, then disconnect, restart, and reconnect to evaluate your world. Client connection checks were deliberately deferred in this cohort.
Managed shared relay when the game, host, and current relay path support it.
Game management tools
Manage your Windrose server
Available tools depend on the game, server status, and your permissions. The game guide explains any setup needed for Server Actions.
Use the settings, files, backups, logs, and server controls available for this game. The complete guide documents any game-specific action prerequisites.
Mods & Content status
Mods and custom content
Managed content installation is unavailable; vanilla startup only was evaluated.
Managed content installation is unavailable. The evaluated runtime is vanilla; custom maps, plugins, and mods need separate manual evaluation. Preserve a backup before changing files and repeat connection and persistence checks.
Know before launch
Before you launch
- Awaiting manual game-client validation. Fresh local server startup, at least five-minute stability, and generated configuration persistence on restart were tested on 2026-10-10. Manual client connection and public network validation remain pending. Startup uses the actual game executable and current startup log; protocol and discovery acceptance remain unproven.
- Host on Windows 10/11 or Linux with Docker Desktop in Linux-container mode on Windows, or Docker Engine or rootful Podman on Linux.
- Managed shared relay when the game, host, and current relay path support it.
