Hardware and runtime

What 7 Days to Die needs

Minimum requirements are a starting point. World size, player count, content, and game settings can require more resources.

CPU
4+ cores
Memory
8 GiB minimum
Player traffic
TCP and UDP
Backup coverage
2 saved data locations

Start with 4 CPU cores and 8 GiB memory. World generation, larger maps, player counts, and mods can need more. Allow disk space for the game download, world, logs, and backups; fast storage helps first boot and saves.

Technical overview

The dedicated-server runtime installs the game through Steam and keeps its server files in persistent storage. This game uses more network ports than a single-port template. See Staging games for evaluation limits.

Launch workflow

From host to running server

Game web and administration ports are not published by this staging setup. Use the game routes shown on the server page for later connection evaluation.

  1. Choose 7 Days to Die from Staging and select a host with enough resources.
  2. Launch with the fixed defaults, then watch the logs while the game download and world initialization finish.
  3. Stop the server before changing the generated serverconfig.xml through Files & Backups; restart to apply the changes.

Networking

How players connect

For later client evaluation, use the game's direct IP connection with the player address and primary game port shown by Swarm Hosts. The default game port is 26900 with TCP and UDP traffic, accompanied by additional UDP ports. Use the displayed relay mappings when available and retain the complete game port set. A successful startup does not confirm server-browser discovery or client gameplay.

Managed shared relay when the game, host, and current relay path support it.

Game management tools

Manage your 7 Days to Die server

Available tools depend on the game, server status, and your permissions. The game guide explains any setup needed for Server Actions.

Use the settings, files, backups, logs, and server controls available for this game. The complete guide documents any game-specific action prerequisites.

Mods & Content status

Mods and custom content

Track mods in one place and apply them manually through the game-specific workflow.

The content list records desired mod identifiers only. It does not download, install, check compatibility, or verify mods. Apply compatible mods manually using the game's file workflow after a backup; evaluate vanilla first.
