Starbound

Starbound uses a single TCP game port and stores universe and player data in the persistent server directory. The dedicated server is installed from Steam through SteamCMD, and Steam requires credentials for an account that owns Starbound before the server files can be downloaded.

Quick Facts

  • Server source: Starbound dedicated server files downloaded from Steam
  • Persistent data: /serverdata
  • Default ports: 21025/tcp
  • Required credentials: Steam username and password for an account that owns Starbound

Launch Notes

  1. Choose Starbound.
  2. Enter Steam credentials for a limited-purpose account that owns Starbound. The upstream installer cannot download the server anonymously.
  3. Use launch parameters only for wrapper-specific startup overrides when needed.
  4. Upload mods and config changes through the file manager.

Steam Guard or two-factor prompts can block unattended SteamCMD downloads. For reliable unattended startup, use an account prepared for dedicated-server installs and avoid reusing a personal account with active interactive prompts.

Connecting

Connect from the Starbound client to the assigned Swarm Hosts address and TCP port shown on the deployment page.

Data

The server install, universe saves, player data, configs, and mods live under /serverdata.
