macOS Agent Support

Swarm Hosts is optimized first for Linux hosts. macOS is currently experimental and not yet listed as production-ready for customer game-hosting today.

For stable, supported game hosting, use a Linux host from the list below:

Use macOS only if you are intentionally evaluating support before it is fully supported.

What you can currently expect on macOS

  • Agent registration and heartbeat can be tested in a controlled lab environment.
  • Full game-hosting parity is not yet supported.
  • Real production deployments should not be planned as macOS-first today.
  • Certain platform features are reduced or unavailable compared with Linux.

What this page is for

This page helps you decide whether macOS is the right starting platform for Swarm Hosts.

  • If you need reliable hosting today, choose Linux.
  • If you are testing experimental macOS support, verify expectations in this page before deployment.

macOS support limits

  • No public support claim for production game hosting.
  • No guarantee of game-specific protocol behavior, including full validation for all catalogs.
  • No general guarantee of generic UDP packet observation.
  • WireGuard relay host mode and some Linux-only operational features are not part of the current supported path.
  • The native Minecraft process mode remains Windows-only.

Basic requirements if you still want to try

  • Dedicated Apple hardware with current macOS support.
  • Stable network connectivity and SSH access for administration.
  • An isolated data root suitable for deployment files and logs.
  • A clear understanding that behavior may change as support is validated.

If your use case is production workloads, wait for the platform to move to supported status before relying on macOS for long-running servers.
