RuneScape: Dragonwilds

This integration uses Jagex's Linux dedicated server and is available in the Popular launch collection. Server startup, managed-network reachability, and game-client connection have been validated.

Before launching

  • Copy your Player ID from the bottom of Dragonwilds' in-game Settings menu. This identifies the owner and is required by Jagex. Use the Dragonwilds Player ID, rather than a Steam account ID or password.
  • Choose a world name and an admin password of 12–128 letters, numbers, underscores or hyphens. Keep the admin password private: it grants access to the game's Server Management screen.
  • Use a host with at least 2 CPUs, 8 GiB RAM, and 20 GB free disk space. Jagex recommends 2 GiB plus 1 GiB per player, up to six players.

Launch

Select RuneScape: Dragonwilds, enter the owner Player ID, server name, world name and admin password, and choose a healthy host. The optional join password may be empty for an open world. Names accept letters, numbers, spaces, underscores and hyphens. Passwords accept letters, numbers, underscores and hyphens.

First startup downloads the free dedicated server from Steam anonymously. No Steam login is required. Later restarts check for the latest public server build. The container wrapper is pinned; Steam's public server build can change. Back up before updating and keep the server and game client on compatible versions. Automatic server-build rollback is unavailable.

Connect

The server uses separate UDP game and beacon ports, defaulting to 7777 and 8888. Both must be reachable; a world appearing in a list does not prove it is joinable. Both allocated managed-relay ports returned valid game-protocol responses during the server-side acceptance test.

Open Worlds → Public and search for the exact, case-sensitive world name. Enter the join password if configured.

Persistent data and backups

Persistent data lives under /home/steam/rsdw-dedicated. Backups include RSDragonwilds/Saved, which holds settings, logs and world saves. Stop the server before backup, restore or world import. Do not remove the Saved directory when troubleshooting an install or update.

The guided settings are applied on startup. Existing server identity, administrator list and unrelated configuration settings are preserved. World saves are not replaced by changing the default world name.

To import a world, stop the server and back up Saved. Use Files & Backups to place the chosen .sav file in RSDragonwilds/Saved/SaveGames, then restart. Jagex loads the latest save present. Keep backup copies outside that live folder to avoid selecting a backup as the active world.

Server Actions

Game-specific Server Actions are unavailable.

  • Use the game's Settings → Server Management screen for supported in-game administration.
  • Use Swarm Hosts for lifecycle, files, logs and backup controls.

Mods & Content

Managed mods are unavailable. Evaluate the vanilla server first; no provider, mod loader, compatibility checks or automatic content rollback are offered. Stopped world-save import is described above.

See Jagex's dedicated-server guide and the official container documentation for owner setup and world management.
